Downer EDI Limited (Downer) today announced an extension to its Defence Major Services Provider (MSP) contract by the Capability, Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) to continue to support the Department of Defence.
The contract extension is for an additional three-year term, with CASG holding the option to extend the term by a further three years.
Team Downer MSP was awarded the first-ever Integrated Work Partnership (IWP) under the MSP arrangement in 2018, and has been working collaboratively with CASG to provide a range of services that significantly expands the capability and capacity of the Department of Defence’s workforce.
Since 2018, Downer has supported a number of important capability programs for Defence, including: Land command, control, communication and computer systems; joint command and control systems; Navy and Army aviation acquisition and sustainment programs; Anzac class frigate sustainment and capability upgrades; Hobart class destroyer sustainment; and Navy Hydrographic ships. In addition, Downer also provides critical functional support for CASG in procurement, logistics and disposal services.
“Downer is one of the largest contractors to the Department of Defence and has been providing sustainment, infrastructure and estate services for more than 80 years,” Downer Group Chief Executive Officer, Peter Tompkins, said. “Downer is among the few remaining large sovereign providers to Defence and we are proud of the role we play in supporting Defence capability and local industry participation.
“In relation to the MSP contract, Downer provides CASG with above the line contracting services; delivering project management, workforce planning and other professional expertise to contribute to the nation's sovereign defence industry capability.
“This contract extension reflects our proven credentials and we look forward to continuing our strong relationship with the Department of Defence.”
Team Downer MSP consortium members include Downer, Providence Consulting and Systra ANZ.
