most people don't have a cellar full of gold bars just gold mining shares, Snoopy you can do all the cross rate calculations you like but there is no other sector that has outperformed gold mining stocks over the last three years, you should just accept the facts but  its not too late for you to invest in Gold stocks I averaged up again today

and will continue to do so until the fundamentals change.....

You are correct No good holding gold if currency appreciation wipes out your gains

Below is chart on Gold valued in $NZ

However at what point will we stop appreciating against the $US cause I believe there is far more upside in precious metals in the long run than you will lose in further appreciation in the short term.

Like any market it is all about timing and at some point you have to put your b*lls on the line.
