[sharechat] My gold pennies worth

The ongoing debate on gold got me interested enough to do a little bit of
reading of meself..
the following link may be of interest.
Note it is dated back in August - but has both opinions incorporated.

http://www.inc.com/articles/2003/08/06cz_jd_0806watch.html

Of particular interest to me given that everyone seems to agree that China is
an up and coming financial heavyweight was that as of June 1 the chinese
government would allow its citizens ( who save 25% of their income) to buy gold.
My only other comment is a vagur rememberance of a late night doco which showed
the ammount of gold ( i think in swiss vaults) that was already in storage.
Believe me - there was a s**tload of it and notice was bought to the fact that
if this gold was dumped on the market this "precious" yellow metal would be
worthless..but then , if gold was the only currency.....
The above link also mentions diamonds... SA have an immense resouce in
diamonds, a strict quota is enforced on the mining of this product to prevent
an oversupply and subsequent crash in diamond prices, the problem is in getting
South Africas' poor to understand this ...
well, thats my gold pennies worth.

Barrel Scraper.
