Phyllis,
Why bother trying to short stocks in Australia, when the US market is
better for this in every respect?
Cheaper ($10/trade)
Easier (Exactly the same procedure as buying long)
Faster (60 seconds max, usually way less than 10 seconds)
More stocks to choose from (approx 10,000)
More volatility
Overvalued market (still)
Some of the falls are fantastic. Take a look at the attached chart of RCCC.
$100 "invested" in this stock is now worth $1. Pity the poor sods who bought
and held. There are many Nasdaq stocks like this. Selling short in a bear
market is a low risk, high return strategy.
