Hugh,
If there was any substance whatsoever in your theories, all NZ share
chatgroups would be similarly affected. They are not. Posts on the Sharetrader
forum, for example, are increasing, as those on Sharechat fall.
There are probably many reasons for this, but I wonder if the following
observations may account for some of the swing.
(1) Sharetrader is very clearly divided into separate threads, within separate
sections.
(2) This physical separation makes it easy to avoid topics or approaches that
do not interest you or that you do not agree with.
(3) As a result, posts there tend to be supportive, or if differing, use
reasoned argument - rather than simply rubbishing the approach used.
(4) Because of the lower risk of attracting abuse, people are more willing to
offer opinions, ask questions, and answer them.
By way of example, Hugh, you seem to be incapable of posting anything that
does not contain some snide criticism of charting or other technical analysis -
regardless of the ostensible topic. It is this sort of mindless kneejerk
negativity that mars Sharechat.
If I was able to post charts on the Sharetrader forum, I would not use
Sharechat at all, leaving it to the knockers. You could then rant about the
world's follies, and endlessly agree with each other - using multiple aliases
as required. You would be totally undisturbed by anyone daring to proffer any
differing views.
Not a bad solution, come to think of it!
Phaedrus.
