Sorry - difficult to give simple answer.    Mainly it is peoplewho are the driving force behind the charts.   And you will say - what are people swayed by???    Well - somewhere in this are fundamentals but not many people have the time or business education to delve into this.    That includes me - I "found" the sharemkt in retirement years.    Mostly people are swayed by crowd behaviour.
There are analysts who use mainly T/A and sort out crowd behaviour simply by studying the characteristics of the movement of the mkt as indicated by the volume and price movement.

In absolute sincerity I say that there is no perfect answer to success in the mkt.   Somewhere in there is fundamental analysis.   But then look at Onetel........   A lot of people made money there and what were the fundamentals.   Another successful looking was TMN.....   More money to be made.     Myself I am v content with what I do and I will say openly it has taken me time.   The older you are the harder to become adept at a new art - particularly one that has no niches in the brain to slot into.    I am able to learn facts to do with my other activities much faster than I have learned T/A.    In point of fact I am still learning and am a v small player.

I didn't mean to be facetious and I am sincere in what I say.   I hope I have made sense.   I wd much rather be helpful than otherwse.     Cheers and Good Luck   Phyllis.

OK Phyllis, a simple question. What is the driving force behind the charts? What is it that gives them their short, medium and long term characteristics?
