AMP recently issued a positive result

and appear to have left their GIO problems firmly in the past.  There was
also an article in the Australian press about their UK operations
http://www.smh.com.au/news/0104/09/business/business3.html which may shed
some light on an increasing price.  As to whether they will stay at the
higher price, there seems to have been some rerating of insurance companies
recently as they widen their products and services and find some strong
synergies with company's they have acquired, and as investors head back to
stocks that provide both dividends and growth potential.
