In this case I don't think that WAM had to disclose anything. After all it appears that they didn't win something they didn't have and lost a little of what they had.

I am sure the announcement at 4.18pm was more to put the record straight than anything else. They most likely were pre-empting a please explain from the NZSE - or doing the decent thing and keeping the market informed.
