Listed biotechnology company Blis has gained access to the Korean market.

Blis's K12 Throat Guard product has initially been focused on the the New Zealand and European markets but a partnership with Australian company Astra Grace will give it access to Korea.

Blis Technologies chief executive Kelvin Moffat said it was the company's first foray into Asia.

"With a population of 50 million, Korea is obviously an exciting market. We also see a priority in establishing a presence in Japan and Taiwan. Then there is the massive Chinese market as well," he said.

Mr Moffat said the Throat Guard, a bacteria-laden lozenge aimed at preventing sore throats, was the first of several products to be rolled out in the next few years.

A second product aimed at oral and intestinal health would be on the market early next year, and a tooth decay preventative was also in the pipeline.
