Meat processing company Affco Holdings, still in restructuring mode as it works to get itself back on a firmer financial footing, has announced further trimming in its operations.

It's closing its United States subsidiary operating out of New York and will operate a North American Service Desk out of its Auckland office instead. It will use established sales outlets in the US.

Affco's Executive Chairman Sam Lewis says the new arrangement will bring significant cost savings, without compromising its business in the US.

Lewis says Affco will be able to maintain the present level of service to American customers and suppliers
