Gisborne food and ingredients manufacturer Cedenco Foods has seen its half year profit to the end of March drop 46% to $1.28 million, compared with the same period the previous year.

Total operating revenue was virtually flat over the comparable periods at $13 million, and tax paid $477,000 less.

Earnings per share have dropped from 15.3 to 8.2 between the periods and shareholders will not get a dividend this time around.

The company's directors say although its profit is down in the half, they believe it is on track to match the 2001 profit of $4.22 million.
