Aquaria Holdings says its purchase of an organic products company should be settled by the end of August although a special meeting to approve the deal has been postponed.

"There has been a delay in obtaining regulatory approval for the Information Memorandum, Independent Report and Appraisal Report to be circulated to shareholders prior to the Special Meeting to consider the
acquisition, but this is expected shortly," the company says.

The company says the Special Meeting has now been postponed to a date later in August, and is dependent on the time that it receives approval.

Aquaria announced in June its plan to buy a North Island-based company called Organic Interceptor Products, which will produce organic products for agriculture, home and industry.

The acquisition cost is $5.15 million, made up of $275,000 in cash and the rest in shares.

AQL, which intends to change its name to Certified Organics Limited, says there continues to be strong interest in Organic Interceptor Products' certified organic weed controller, both locally and internationally.

"Distribution agreements are currently being negotiated for several key market segments in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. In addition, trials have been initiated to secure registration for a range of commercial uses in New Zealand."

One of the Organic Interceptor products is claimed to have shown potential to control botrytis fungi.
