Certified Organics (NZSE: CER) continues to notch up certification for its organic weed killer as it heads towards a scheduled commercial launch later this year.

In the latest round the company says its weed killer, called Organic Interceptor, has been certified across the Tasman by NASAA - the National Association for Sustainable Agriculture (Australia).

"This means commercial agricultural and home garden products in our weed killer range can carry the all important NASAA organic label on packaging," the company says.

"Achieving this additional certification is a major advancement for us in Australia as many potential organic farmers are only registered with NASAA and were awaiting the approval of Organic Interceptor."

NASAA is accredited to one of the world's leading organic organisations, the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement (IFOAM ). The company already had organic certification for Organic Interceptor from Biological Farmers of Australia Cooperative.

"This latest certification now covers off the main certification authorities in Australia."

In New Zealand the company has received approval for the weed killer from Bio Gro and AgriQuality Certenz and in North America from Organic Crop Improvement Association.

The company says it is on track to obtain registration for Organic Interceptor use in commercial agricultural and horticultural applications in Australia by the end of the year.

Organic Interceptor is scheduled to be taken to market by summer 2002/03 in Australia and New Zealand. It will then be launched in Northern Hemisphere in mid-2003.
