GENERAL: WTL: UK Distributor Appointed for Windflow's 500 kW Turbine
Windflow Technology Ltd has responded to the strong demand in the UK for its
500 kW wind turbine by today announcing the appointment of Scotland based
Ventus Green Energy as its exclusive UK distributor.
Demand within UK for the Windflow 500 has dramatically increased as a result
of new UK government policy that incentivises small scale renewable
generation projects/windfarms.
Ventus Green Energy Limited is a renewable energy company covering the whole
of the UK, based south of Glasgow, who have sold, installed, and service over
100 small scale wind turbines in the past two years. Their clients include
farmers, landowners, and small businesses. The company anticipates rapid
growth with the Windflow 500 added to its product range.
Geoff Henderson, CEO of Windflow Technology said "In Ventus Green Energy,
Windflow has found a great partner to bring Windflow 500 turbines to this
exciting growth opportunity in the UK market. Ventus has an excellent
reputation and offers its customers a turnkey solution, from feasibility
studies through to turbine construction and ongoing servicing."
"People want to maximise the revenue from their land so most of our enquiries
nowadays are for a 500 kW turbine," said Ventus co-director Jim Paterson.
"The Windflow 500 is one of the only 500 kW turbines in production in the
world and it has a proven track record with over 60 turbines installed on
windy sites".
"Reliability is important and Windflow's modern design, innovative features
and high quality standards give us confidence to promote this turbine to our
customers".
"We are landowners and own turbines ourselves so we understand the issues and
what's involved" said Mr Paterson. "Owning turbines isn't core business for
most people so we aim to make it easy and low risk. We offer good warranties
and are growing our local presence to ensure quick service".
The UK government introduced feed-in-tariffs (FITs) in April this year to
incentivise small scale (less than 5 MW), low carbon, electricity generation.
The 500 kW size has been particularly incentivised, in part because of the
lower visual impact of these turbines. Wind projects between 100-500 kW
using new turbines are guaranteed a payment for the electricity they generate
(18.8 p/kWh) for 20 years and in addition will be offered a minimum of 3
p/kWh for any electricity exported to the grid, which both tariffs inflated
annually. (Total approximately NZ 45c/kWh).
