Mr John Calder, Chairman of Wakefield Health, today announced the appointment of Professor Geoffrey Horne as a director of Wakefield Health Limited.

Professor Horne is a Wellington Orthopaedic surgeon working in both public and private practice. In addition to his long and distinguished surgical career, Professor Horne has been extensively involved in teaching and medical research roles. He is the current clinical professor at the Wellington School of Medicine (Otago University) and held the position of professor of surgery for more than 20 years prior to this. He is a former president of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and prior to joining the Board has served as Chairman of the Wakefield Health Clinical Advisory Committee. Professor Horne's services to medicine were recently recognized in the award of the title Officer of the NZ Order of Merit (ONZM).
