PIKE RIVER 2010 ANNUAL MEETING AND CLOSING DATE FOR DIRECTOR NOMINATIONS

Pike River Coal advises that the 2010 Annual Meeting of Shareholders will be held on Monday 15 November 2010 commencing at 12.30pm. The venue will be at the Pike River Coal mine site, 586 Logburn Road, Atarau, Greymouth.

Pike River Coal also advises that there will be Investor Briefings in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch as follows: - Christchurch, Tuesday 16 November 2010 commencing at 5.00pm at Peppers Clearwater Resort, Clearwater Avenue, Harewood, Christchurch. - Wellington, Wednesday 17 November 2010 commencing at 10.00am at Wellesley Boutique Hotel, 2-8 Maginnity Street, Wellington. - Auckland, Wednesday 17 November 2010 commencing at 5.30pm at Waipuna Hotel, 58 Waipuna Road, Mt Wellington, Auckland.

For the purposes of NZSX Listing Rule 3.3.2 Pike River Coal advises that the closing date for nomination of directors is 15 September 2010. Nominations must be received at the registered office of the company (see below), be made by a shareholder entitled to attend and vote at the meeting, and be accompanied by the nominated person's consent in writing to act as a director if elected.
