DIRECTOR: NZX: New Director for NZX

27 August 2010 - NZX is pleased to announce the appointment of James Miller to the NZX Board, effective in October 2010.

James brings 14 years' experience in capital markets to the NZX Board, his most recent role being a Board member and Head of NZ Wholesale Equities with Craigs Investment Partners in Auckland. His relevant prior roles are Head of Equities at ABN AMRO, Head of Research at ABN AMRO, and Research Analyst focussing on energy and infrastructure sectors with Barclays de Zoete Wedd (BZW).

His knowledge of, and contribution to, New Zealand capital markets is extensive, and will be of significant value as we seek to grow and develop our markets offerings in the coming years," said NZX Chairman Andrew Harmos.

"James is a straight talker who will always give you an honest and informed view. He knows our markets like the back of his hand, is a creative thinker and is deeply connected across our markets. James is a great addition to the NZX Board," said NZX CEO Mark Weldon.

James Miller said, "I am honoured to be asked by my peers to be a director of NZX. My main focus will be on the NZX's core raison d'etre - I strongly believe New Zealand needs to grow its savings pool so that New Zealand corporates have a ready pool of capital to grow the New Zealand economy.

"I consider NZX a critical New Zealand institution, and look forward to working with the NZX team to create deeper, healthier capital markets that benefit all investors and corporates."

James is a qualified chartered accountant and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand, a Certified Securities Analyst Professional, and an accredited Director of the Institute of Directors in NZ Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago University and is a graduate of The Advanced Management Program, Harvard Business School (USA).

James is also a director of energy infrastructure and technology company Vector, and of award winning airport owner and operator Auckland International Airport. He was previously on the ABN AMRO Securities Board, INFINZ Board, and the Financial Reporting Standards Board.
