Constituent change for NZX 50 at June Quarterly Index Review
9 June 2010 - NZX announces that following the June Quarterly Index Review,
the Abano Healthcare Group (ABA) will be added to the headline NZX 50 Index.
ABA will replace Pan Pacific Petroleum (PPP), whose six-month index ranking
fell below 55th at the June Quarterly Index Review. The change is effective
on Monday 21 June.
Nuplex Industries Limited (NPX) is added to the NZX 15 Index on the basis of
a six-month ranking of higher than 14th. NPX replaces Freightways Limited
(FRE) which is removed as the lowest ranking incumbent.
Ecoya Limited (ECO), which listed in May, has been added to the NZX Small Cap
Index.
The NZX Index committee has considered the index status of Allied Farmers
Limited (ALF). The stability and investability of an index are enhanced by
avoiding unnecessary churn in index constituents. Based on concerns about
ALF's current ability to maintain a position in the NZX 50, NZX Indices is
exercising its discretion to discount ALF from index inclusion at this time.
ALF will be considered for tranched entry into the NZX 50 Index at the March
2011 Quarterly Review, subject to meeting inclusion criteria at all Quarterly
Index Reviews up to and including March 2011.
NZX Indices is collating responses to proposed changes to the NZX 50
methodology and procedures. Outcomes of that review will be announced on 25
June 2010.
Index changes announced today are implemented after market close on Friday 18
June and effective on Monday 21 June 2010.
