21 May 2010 - NZX today announces that Fiona Mackenzie, Head of Liquidity and
Traded Products since May 2009, has been appointed NZX Head of Markets. The
Head of Markets role will include all
traded products, the NZX Listings function, and the market data portfolio.
Highly experienced in international markets, Fiona also heads the NZX
Auckland office, which is NZX's base for new tradable futures and commodities
products. Fiona has been leading the team building the derivatives market
offering in New Zealand. The Listings role includes the responsibility for
bringing
new companies to market.
Fiona said, "The responsibility for bringing new companies to market is an
important one, and one I am thrilled to take on. My focus will be in the
areas identified by the Capital Markets Development Taskforce.
"An important first step will be to assess potential new market structures,
as well as promote the value of listing and public equity in an environment
where - for the first time in a long time - companies will be able to compete
fairly with property for the investor dollar."
Fiona spent the five years prior to joining NZX in the US, on Asia (ex Japan)
equities at Morgan Stanley, based in New York and San Francisco. Previous to
this Fiona was at Credit Suisse in New York City.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University
of Otago, and an MBA specialising in Finance from Columbia Business School in
New York.
