Notification of Major Interest in Shares

Guinness Peat Group plc ("the Company") announces that it has been informed by AMP Capital Investors (New Zealand) Limited ("AMP") that in October 2008 AMP increased its beneficial interest to in excess of 3% of the Company's issued share capital. At 2 July 2010 AMP held 55,624,033 ordinary shares in the Company, which equates to 3.06% of the Company's total voting rights.
