Guinness Peat Group plc ("GPG") announces that on 1 June 2010 it received notification from Suncorp-Metway Ltd, whose registered office is at 36 Wickham Terrace, Brisbane, Australia ("Suncorp") and its subsidiaries, advising their substantial shareholdings in GPG following a recent purchase of shares.

Suncorp now directly or indirectly holds the voting rights attached to 52,815,661 shares in GPG representing 3.19% of GPG's total issued share capital.
