Auckland Airport advises changes to its Board of Directors
The directors of Auckland Airport have announced that Joan Withers will
succeed Tony Frankham as chair of the board immediately following the annual
meeting on 26 October 2010.
Mrs Withers has been a director of Auckland Airport since 1996 and is
presently chair of the Audit & Risk Committee. She is also the chair of
Mighty River Power and the deputy chair of Television New Zealand.
Tony Frankham, who has been a director of the company since 1994, has been
chairman since 2007 and was chair of the Audit & Risk Committee for 10 years.
He retires by rotation and has elected not to seek re-appointment as a
director.
Mr Frankham said that he is standing down to provide an opportunity for a new
board appointment to be made. He said, "It is desirable that the membership
of the Auckland Airport board continues to be refreshed."
The directors have also advised that they have determined that the
appointment of a director with significant international airline experience
would add great value to the board. A process to identify and appoint an
appropriate candidate is now underway.
Joan Withers and Lloyd Morrison retire by rotation and, being eligible, will
be offering themselves for re-election at the annual meeting on 28 October
2010. The directors unanimously support the re-election of Mrs Withers and
Mr Morrison.
